1. Tổng quan lỗi hay sai với câu điều kiện
Học sinh thường mất điểm ở If clauses vì nhầm thì, đưa will/would vào mệnh đề If, quên đảo ngữ, hoặc không phân biệt Type 2 / Type 3 / Mixed. Dưới đây là các nhóm lỗi chính:
- Dùng will / would trong mệnh đề If.
- Nhầm Type 2 (hiện tại không có thật) với Type 3 (quá khứ).
- Quên dạng đúng của were (If I were…).
- Không nhận ra Mixed conditional.
- Sai khi đảo ngữ (Had I known…, Were he…, Should you…).
- Dùng sai unless (= if … not).
2. Type 0 & Type 1 (câu 1–10)
Type 0: sự thật luôn đúng (If + HTĐ, HTĐ). Type 1: có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại/tương lai (If + HTĐ, will/can/may…).

Đáp án: A — Không dùng will trong If.

Đáp án: B — Type 0 (cũng chấp nhận will melt trong một số ngữ cảnh, nhưng đáp án chuẩn SGK thường là melts).
3. Type 2 (câu 11–20)
Không có thật ở hiện tại: If + QKĐ (were với mọi ngôi), would/could/might + V.

Kết hợp Type 2 + Type 3: giả định quá khứ ảnh hưởng hiện tại, hoặc ngược lại.

7. Unless & biến thể (câu 45–50)
Unless = if … not. Không dùng unless với nghĩa “nếu không phải vì”.

Đáp án: B — unless the taxi arrived = if the taxi hadn’t arrived (cần khớp thì Type 3 trong ngữ cảnh đầy đủ; ở đây mang nghĩa “nếu không”).

Mẹo vàng
Không bao giờ dùng will / would ngay sau If (trừ một số trường hợp lịch sự rất hạn chế). Thấy “now / at present” + quá khứ trong If → nghĩ đến Mixed.

Mỗi ngày làm 15–20 câu If clauses, ghi lại loại nào bạn hay sai (Type 3, Mixed hay Inversion). Điểm ngữ pháp ổn định đến từ việc sửa đúng lỗi lặp lại.
